For a Sardinia yacht charter, choose your shore-to-sea balance
For a crewed Sardinia yacht charter, start with northeastern Sardinia and decide how much of your holiday belongs aboard. Choose between evenings around Porto Cervo, time around La Maddalena's islands, or a hotel stay with selected private boat days. Then match the actual boat, cabins, embarkation point and park arrangements to that choice. A famous yacht or a photograph of turquoise water does not settle those decisions.
The appeal is room in the day: breakfast without a departure scramble, a swim when conditions permit, lunch that does not require everyone to dress for a restaurant. But you may also want a comfortable town evening or several nights in a hotel. Decide which moments matter before filling every day with different island names. A well-chosen area can feel more generous than a long coastal checklist.
This independent guide draws on ten primary pages reopened October 24, 2026. It adds the Sardinia decisions to our separate Italy charter-cost guide, rather than offering a ready-to-sail route. We have not reserved a yacht, berth, guide or hotel, checked an individual operator's authorization, or obtained a quote. The 2026 park material is dated evidence, not a promise of the rules or availability for summer 2027.

Choose the mainland coast or island evenings first
Porto Cervo and La Maddalena town are useful starting points for different reasons. IGY describes Porto Cervo's two harbors and shore services. The municipal harbor at Cala Gavetta connects the boating setting with La Maddalena town. Neither is automatically the pickup point for the yacht you eventually choose. Ask where the boat will actually be delivered and where you can comfortably return after dinner.
For a group that wants frequent restaurant evenings, compare the shore connection before the list of water toys. For people who mainly want time aboard, compare living space, shade, a comfortable swim platform and the flexibility to change the day's plan. If someone dislikes sleeping on a boat, a beautiful hotel with carefully chosen boat days may be the better luxury, not a lesser substitute.
Our suggested planning frame is one main area, one or two shore priorities and an open day. It is not a navigational sequence or a claim that particular islands can be combined safely within a set time. The captain must shape the actual movements around the vessel, conditions and permissions. Add southern Sardinia or another island only as a separately evaluated journey, not as a casual extension of the same week.
Swipe the table to compare all columns, or focus it and use the arrow keys.
| Starting preference | What it may solve | What must be established |
|---|---|---|
| Porto Cervo shore time | Dining, town evenings and services around a coastal base | Actual harbor, berth, shore transfers and operating dates |
| La Maddalena island time | A holiday centered on life aboard and the archipelago | Authorized activity, named unit, access limits and flexible alternatives |
| Hotel plus private boat days | Land-based bedrooms with selected days on the water | Actual pickup, day-boat scope, weather terms and return to the hotel |
On the trip-planning page, the choice of places is decision 2 of 6, the route: which places, how many nights in each, and the reason for each stop.

Connect Olbia airport with the actual boat, not a place name
Olbia Costa Smeralda Airport is a practical arrival point to examine for this northeastern brief. Its official transport page locates the taxi rank outside Arrivals and gives broad road distances of 34 kilometers to Costa Smeralda and 44 kilometers to Palau. Those are not transfer times to your yacht. Costa Smeralda is an area, not a berth, and the airport's historical taxi-tariff table is not our private-driver quote.
Specify the actual flight, bags, party size and meeting point, then establish the car journey, luggage handling and final boarding. A car arriving beside a marina does not necessarily arrive beside your cabin. If boarding involves a tender, ask about steps, the transfer of larger bags and what happens when conditions change. A traveler who wants a straightforward hotel arrival may need a different first night from someone happy to board immediately.
Plan departure with the same care. Agree the yacht's return arrangement and a sensible margin with the responsible providers; do not treat the last morning as another distant swimming stop before a flight. If the group arrives separately, establish whether everyone must board together or whether a later arrival requires another transfer. No flight, road duration or sea connection has been confirmed by this guide.

A park ticket is not the whole charter authorization
Treat park entry, the commercial activity and the actual vessel as separate checks. The park's permit page has different channels for private recreation, businesses and occasional charter. Its public entry information still includes older background, so it must be read alongside the 2026 charter discipline and the relevant authorized-business material. A ticket purchased for one purpose is not proof that every proposed charter activity is covered.
The authorized-business page says its 2026 lists were updated October 14, 2026, although an inner heading still says 2025. That mismatch is a reason to verify the list, category, operator and named unit, not to assume a favorable answer. The page separates resident hire, nonresident hire and hire without a driver. We have not checked a particular company's file and do not describe any listed operator as our partner or recommendation.
Article 12 of the published 2026 noleggio discipline addresses combustion engines in beach launch and landing corridors, including the relevant yacht tenders. A tender should therefore not be sold to you as a universal beach-access solution. Ask the responsible provider to establish the actual activity, landing and current rules for your trip. This is a decision checklist, not individual maritime legal advice or permission to operate.

Pink Beach and Cala Coticcio are not ordinary private stops
Budelli's Spiaggia Rosa is a good test of what exclusive should mean. The park describes the Pink Beach as under integral protection: shore access is forbidden, as are swimming, sailing, anchoring and mooring in the sea area in front of it. The page mentions a viewing walkway, not permission to land wherever a captain or guest wishes. A high charter budget does not turn a protected place into a private beach.
Cala Coticcio and Cala Brigantina involve a different question. The park's land-excursion page says their protected TA zones are not freely accessible and identifies an environmental hiking guide as part of the authorized visit. It publishes a separate EUR 3 park contribution, with children up to twelve exempt, and says the guide's price is additional. That is not a EUR 3 all-in excursion, a boat admission or a current slot held for your party.
If a protected place matters to the trip, describe the experience you want: a permitted land excursion, an opportunity to view a landscape, or an ordinary swimming day elsewhere. These may require different plans. Do not build a celebration or the only swimming day around an access assumption. Current restrictions, the actual date and the responsible guide or captain must be established before a proposal treats a visit as feasible.

Choose the cabins and tender around the people coming
Count usable guest arrangements rather than simply adding every bed shown in a yacht brochure. Establish the permitted overnight guest limit, exact cabins, double or twin arrangements, bathrooms, crew spaces and the living areas your party will share. An extra berth does not automatically increase the guest capacity. For several generations, identify who needs privacy and who is comfortable with stairs or a more active boarding process.
For this island-focused holiday, the tender deserves attention alongside the main yacht. Describe the help people want, approximate luggage and whether going ashore frequently is essential. Ask which transfers the tender can actually perform, who assists and which proposed landings are permitted. A larger yacht does not by itself make every beach or restaurant arrival simple. If the practical arrangement is awkward for someone, change the plan before changing the brochure adjectives.
Our planning recommendation is to give different preferences equal weight. Some guests may enjoy a longer swim while others prefer a shaded lunch or a town walk. Agree how those interests fit without forcing everyone into the same activity. First inquiries need only broad practical requirements; keep medical records, passport details and payment information out of the email. Individual suitability and vessel operations belong with the appropriate professionals.

Compare the whole Sardinia cost, not a weekly headline
Ask for the charter fee, taxes, operating-expense advance, positioning, marina arrangements, land transfers and any separate hotel nights in a coherent breakdown. Establish what is included, what is estimated and what is reconciled against actual spending. The Advance Provisioning Allowance, or APA, is not automatically a final surcharge or a guaranteed spending ceiling. Our national guide explains the accounting and a clearly hypothetical calculation.
Sardinia-specific choices change the comparison: frequent marina evenings versus more time aboard, actual embarkation and delivery location, the party's meals and shore program, applicable park arrangements and the final airport connection. Ask who obtains and pays for each required authorization rather than adding a generic park-ticket allowance to every charter. A daily boat outing with a hotel has a different cost structure from overnight crewed charter.
No current weekly yacht quote or berth price has been obtained for this article. Published harbor facilities do not establish today's availability, a rate or a particular vessel's suitability. Cala Gavetta's own page illustrates why confirmation matters: its structured summary gives a 60-meter maximum length and 12-meter depth, while its prose gives 50 meters and a 7-meter draft. We do not choose one silently or turn either into a booking promise.

Leave room for the season, weather and a genuinely good alternative
Separate the cruising season from the operating dates of a harbor, hotel, restaurant or shore activity. IGY describes Porto Cervo's Old Port as open June through September and the New Marina as always open. That does not establish next summer's service calendar for every business, a berth on your dates or a reason to assume the same evening ashore in every month. Check the particular parts of your trip together.
Agree how the plan changes when the captain cannot make the proposed movement or landing. A different bay, a marina day, an activity ashore and cancellation of the whole charter are not the same event. The charter contract and separate suppliers may treat them differently. Decide which moments are essential and which can move; leave the captain room to make the operational decision without pretending that an alternative preserves every attraction.
For a hypothetical seven-night holiday, our recommendation is an arrival day, a few island-focused days, an uncommitted day and a conservative departure arrangement, with shore time fitted to the group. This is a planning structure, not seven booked nights, a minimum charter period, a sailing route or a forecast. If an exact restaurant evening or hotel stay matters most, build around its confirmed arrangement rather than promising to reach it from anywhere at sea.

Email the Sardinia week you want, not a finished itinerary
A useful first message is short: approximate dates, travelers, nights you imagine aboard and one priority. Say whether you picture Porto Cervo evenings, more island time or a hotel with private boat days. If you know your likely arrival airport or cabin needs, include them. If not, say you are still deciding. A travel budget is optional and should be distinguished from flights and any separate land stay.
For example: We are six adults considering a week in northeastern Sardinia. We would like three guest cabins, unhurried swimming days when conditions allow and one town evening, with a hotel night before our return flight. This is a hypothetical, non-identifying brief, not a client story or available offer. It gives a planner more useful information than a request for the biggest yacht and every famous beach.
The contact buttons open a draft addressed to our travel desk, with this guide's title and URL included. Nothing is automatically sent, stored as a lead or added to a newsletter. Email is enough; the separate call-request link is optional. Before any commitment, the actual provider, scope, permissions, availability, fees and terms must be established. We do not hold the vessels or access discussed here.

Related questions
Where should a Sardinia yacht charter start?
Choose the actual embarkation point around the holiday you want, not just a famous place name. Porto Cervo shore time, a La Maddalena-focused stay and a hotel with private boat days are different arrangements. Confirm the vessel's delivery point, airport connection and final boarding before fixing the wider trip.
Does a La Maddalena park ticket authorize any charter?
No. Park entry, the commercial activity, the named vessel and the proposed landing are separate checks. The park has different applicant channels and 2026 business lists. Have the responsible provider establish the category, year and permissions for the actual trip; this guide has not vetted a particular operator.
Can a private yacht visit Spiaggia Rosa on Budelli?
A private charter does not create an exception to protection. The park prohibits shore access to the Pink Beach and swimming, sailing, anchoring and mooring in the sea area before it. A mentioned viewing walkway is not permission for an arbitrary landing or a reserved visit.
Is the EUR 3 Cala Coticcio contribution the whole excursion price?
No. The park's land-excursion page separates its contribution from the private environmental guide's charge and describes protected zones that are not freely accessible. It is not an all-in boat visit, a held slot or a tariff guaranteed for a future year.
What is included in a crewed yacht charter in Sardinia?
Use the actual written proposal. Compare the base charter fee with taxes, operating expenses or APA, positioning, marina arrangements, park requirements, transfers and any land stay. A headline weekly rate is not the whole trip, and an expense advance is not automatically the final cost.
Can we stay in a hotel and take private boat days instead?
That can be a better planning format for people who prefer land-based bedrooms or only a few days at sea. Establish the actual pickup, boat service, luggage or boarding needs, weather conditions and return to the hotel. No hotel, boat or date is reserved by this article.
What should I email about a luxury Sardinia yacht trip?
Approximate dates, travelers, desired nights aboard and one priority. If known, add cabin needs, arrival airport and your balance of island and shore time. Budget is optional. The call-request link is separate, and the first message should not contain passport, payment or medical records.
The best Sardinian week is not the one that collects the most bays. It is the one that gives your people the water, space and shore time they actually want.
