The answer now

Italy's 2027 calendar is partly visible, not fully bookable. You can choose the month, regions and shape of the route now. You can also book the limited 2027 inventory already offered by an official seller. But many train schedules, seasonal ferries, timed-entry sights and local programs have not opened.

This calendar uses four meanings deliberately. Confirmed date means an official organizer has published the date. On sale means its official checkout accepts the 2027 visit. Recurring date means an official rule or annual tradition fixes the day while operational details can still change. Not announced means no primary source has published the 2027 answer.

The page is a decision calendar, not a promise of price, availability, weather or admission. Every changing item has a point at which it should be checked again.

Italy in 2027, month by month

National holidays can change opening hours and domestic travel demand. Event dates can make one city unusually busy while the rest of Italy operates normally. The actions below are intentionally narrower than a generic recommendation to book everything early.

Weekends around holidays are calendar-based planning signals, not extra national closure days. A local patron-saint holiday can also affect a city even when the rest of Italy is working.

  1. 01

    January

    Confirmed dates

New Year's Day is Friday, January 1; Epiphany is Wednesday, January 6. Venice Carnival begins January 23.

    Decide or book
If Venice Carnival is an anchor, choose nights and use only the official event pages for tickets.
    Check again
The complete Carnival program and the conditions of each ticketed event.
  2. 02

    February

    Confirmed event

Venice Carnival continues through Tuesday, February 9. The published citywide interval does not mean every event is already listed or on sale.

    Decide or book
Reserve the route and lodging only if Carnival is the reason for the trip; match tickets to named official events.
    Check again
The official daily program, access conditions and transport notices.
  3. 03

    March

    Confirmed dates

Easter Sunday is March 28 and Easter Monday is March 29. The daylight-saving clock change also occurs on March 28.

    Decide or book
Treat Holy Week and the Easter weekend as a date-specific trip, especially in Rome, rather than ordinary late March.
    Check again
Vatican, church, museum and transport calendars when their 2027 programs open.
  4. 04

    April

    Confirmed event

Salone del Mobile runs April 13–18; the official visitor page identifies April 17–18 for the general public. Liberation Day is Sunday, April 25.

    Decide or book
For a Milan design trip, secure cancellable lodging and wait for the official 2027 ticket terms rather than copying a prior year's price.
    Check again
Salone ticket prices, admission rules and the Fuorisalone city program.
  5. 05

    May

    Dates confirmed; details pending

The Giro d'Italia is dated May 8–30, but its 2027 route is not published. The Architecture Biennale opens in Venice on May 8 and runs through November 21; tickets are not yet on sale.

    Decide or book
Book around the Biennale only if Venice is already chosen. Do not plan Giro road closures or stage towns before the route exists.
    Check again
The Giro route and the Biennale's official ticket page.
  6. 06

    June

    Confirmed dates and sale

Republic Day is Wednesday, June 2. The Arena di Verona Opera Festival runs June 11–September 11 and already offers 2027 tickets. Rome's local patron holiday is June 29.

    Decide or book
A named Arena performance can be booked through the official seller; leave the rest of the route flexible until transport is published.
    Check again
Local opening hours around June 2 and June 29, plus the operating timetable for each route.
  7. 07

    July

    Recurring date

Siena's traditional July Palio is held on July 2 every year. The date recurs; the 2027 operating program and access changes still need their own check.

    Decide or book
If Siena is essential, decide the overnight plan early. Do not assume there is one centralized official grandstand ticket office.
    Check again
The Comune di Siena's 2027 program, access instructions and any weather changes.
  8. 08

    August

    Confirmed holiday; recurring event

Ferragosto is Sunday, August 15. Siena's second traditional Palio is Monday, August 16. A national holiday does not tell you which restaurant, ferry or museum will open.

    Decide or book
Choose the region and lodging; verify every seasonal service individually when its summer calendar appears.
    Check again
Ferries, local buses, attractions and the Siena program close to travel.
  9. 09

    September

    One confirmed anchor

The Arena di Verona season continues through September 11. Do not insert other familiar September festivals until their organizers publish the 2027 edition.

    Decide or book
Book a named Arena date if it belongs in the route; keep unannounced festivals out of the itinerary.
    Check again
Official festival calendars and transport schedules, not copied 2026 listings.
  10. 10

    October

    Confirmed national holiday

The new national feast of Saint Francis of Assisi falls on Monday, October 4. Daylight saving time ends Sunday, October 31.

    Decide or book
Treat October 2–4 as a natural long weekend for domestic demand. Use the separate October guide for the operational checklist, then recheck it for 2027.
    Check again
2027 events, seasonal services and any decision on the Venice Access Fee.
  11. 11

    November

    Confirmed dates

All Saints' Day is Monday, November 1. The Architecture Biennale closes Sunday, November 21.

    Decide or book
If the Biennale is the anchor, choose a date inside the confirmed exhibition window and wait for official ticket sales.
    Check again
Biennale ticket availability and city-specific winter opening hours.
  12. 12

    December

    Confirmed holidays

Immaculate Conception is Wednesday, December 8; Christmas is Saturday, December 25; Saint Stephen's Day is Sunday, December 26.

    Decide or book
Choose the Christmas route and flexible lodging. Do not rely on the current rail calendar for December 2027.
    Check again
The winter rail timetable, holiday museum hours and local Christmas programs.

What can actually be booked

There is no honest universal Italy booking window. The Colosseum says timed tickets open exactly 30 days before the visit. Italo describes its inventory only as generally available several months ahead. Trenitalia's latest specific release currently reaches December 2026, not a complete 2027 calendar. The Uffizi offers advance sales but publishes no single fixed horizon.

The same distinction applies to events. Arena di Verona already offers named 2027 dates. The Architecture Biennale has dates but says tickets will be available soon. A date announcement is not proof that its checkout is open.

Use the official seller for the exact date you need. If the checkout does not accept that date, the inventory is not confirmed for you, regardless of a blog's generic 30-, 60- or 90-day rule.

Plan by distance from departure

Nine to twelve months out, choose the month, regions, route shape and the one or two fixed anchors that justify the trip. Six to nine months out, compare flights and cancellable lodging only where real inventory exists. Three to six months out, revisit named event and attraction pages. Thirty to ninety days out, test the actual train, ferry and timed-entry dates. Seven days out, replace every general assumption with a live operational check.

Those ranges are an editorial workflow, not a supplier guarantee. A museum can open later, a railway can publish earlier, and a seasonal ferry can revise a timetable after sale. The official checkout and current operator notice always outrank the range.

What is still not announced

Venice has not approved a 2027 Access Fee calendar. The city says any application after 2026 requires a further decision. Do not copy 2026 fee dates or prices into a 2027 plan.

ETIAS is not operating as of September 14, 2026 and the exact launch date has not been announced. The Giro has dates but no published 2027 route. The full 2027 rail calendar, many ferry schedules and many city festival programs also remain incomplete.

Not announced is useful information: it tells you what not to buy from a reseller and which official page deserves a return visit.

The seven-day check

Seven days before each travel day, check the local forecast, regional civil-protection alerts, the national strike calendar, every attraction's current hours, the operating company for each train or ferry and the official entry-rules page. A year-ahead calendar cannot replace any of those.

If a service or event matters enough to change the trip, save its official page now. The next check should begin there, not with a reseller or an undated search result.

What changed

Published September 14, 2026 with the new October 4 national holiday, 2027 Easter and clock-change dates, six confirmed event windows, the Colosseum's published 30-day rule and explicit not-announced status for the Venice Access Fee, ETIAS, the Giro route and the full 2027 rail calendar.

The page will change only when an official source changes the public answer. Its verification date will not move merely because the site is rebuilt.

A useful year-ahead plan is not the one with the most reservations. It is the one that knows which decisions are real today, which pages to watch and when to return.
