Italy in November 2026: what is actually open

November is not closed Italy. It is low-season Italy with full-strength cities and seasonal edges. Rome, Florence, Bologna, Turin, Naples and Venice still make sense for art, architecture, food and indoor culture. A route built around beach clubs, summer ferries, mountain lifts or long daylight does not survive the month unchanged.

Choose the trip by what you want to do, not by a claim that one whole region works. A museum-and-food week can be excellent. An Amalfi, island or Dolomites itinerary needs service-by-service checks, weather alternatives and permission to change shape.

All Saints' Day is a national public holiday and falls on Sunday, November 1 in 2026. It is also the first Sunday of the month, when participating state museums and archaeological parks join the Ministry of Culture's free-admission initiative.

Free does not mean every museum, every entrance or every time slot. State, municipal, church and private sites follow different systems, and individual places can still require reservations or special access procedures. Check the exact institution before treating November 1 as a free museum day.

A city route is the most resilient version of November: major museums, churches, markets, theaters and historic centers do not depend on a summer timetable. Venice also has a specific 2026 reason to stay longer: the Biennale Arte remains open through November 22, with autumn hours of 10:00 a.m.–6:00 p.m. and its own Monday exceptions.

Naples and Pompeii make a stronger November combination than a beach-first Amalfi itinerary. Pompeii lists winter hours from October 15 through March 15: opening at 9:00 a.m., last entrance at 3:30 p.m. and closing at 5:00 p.m. That is a real operating window, but it gives the visit less daylight than a summer schedule.

Piedmont works for food and culture rather than weather promises. The Alba White Truffle World Market continues on Saturdays and Sundays through December 6. Turin then hosts the 44th Torino Film Festival from November 24 through December 2.

The coast does not switch off on one national date. One official Positano–Amalfi sailing page currently lists daily service only through November 3. Caremar's Naples–Capri timetable continues while marking some individual runs as seasonal. Those two pages prove why the correct unit is the crossing, date and operator—not a generic claim that ferries run or stop in November.

The high mountains are also between products. Dolomiti Superski tells travelers to check the operating dates of each lift; a general destination page is not an opening guarantee for the cable car, refuge or trail connection in an itinerary. Build a valley or city alternative before weather makes the decision for you.

November also shortens the useful outdoor day. Do not turn a long-range forecast into a packing promise. Use historical climate as context, then replace it with the local forecast and regional warning page shortly before the trip.

Lucca Comics & Games closes on November 1. The Alba market runs on weekends through December 6. Biennale Arte closes November 22. The Torino Film Festival begins November 24 and continues into December. These are confirmed organizer dates, not a promise of ticket or hotel availability.

Use an event to choose the date only after opening its current ticket page. November can be quieter between major dates and concentrated around them; a national low-season label does not describe the room inventory around a large festival.

November rewards routes with a solid center and optional edges. Make the city, museum or archaeological site the fixed point. Treat the island crossing, high lift, garden, coastal excursion or outdoor event as conditional until the current operator confirms it.

The Ministry's strike register is dynamic: an action can be added, changed, narrowed or revoked. Search by date and place, then move from the government record to the company operating the exact train, flight, ferry or local service.
