Orgosolo
A 1969 mural and the peaceful Pratobello mobilisation belong to the same political moment. More than 150 works now carry that archive across the town.

Why it is worth the drive
Orgosolo's first recognised mural dates to 1969 and the experimental Dioniso collective, in the political setting of the Pratobello protest. From 1975, art teacher Francesco Del Casino and his students helped turn mural-making into a sustained public practice across the town.
The Pratobello mobilisation opposed a planned military training ground on municipal grazing land. The regional library describes a peaceful, assembly-led campaign that ended with the soldiers' withdrawal; later murals made the episode part of the town's visible political memory.
Getting there
Orgosolo is about twenty kilometres from Nuoro. ARST's current Line 509 links the two towns, with stops on Corso Repubblica and at Nuoro's ARST station; consult the service calendar because journeys differ between school, weekday and holiday schedules.
The honest part
The regional tourism authority counts more than 150 works, spanning political protest, social claims and everyday life. They were made over decades by different hands, so the value is the evolving public archive rather than a single curated style.
